About the Operation

The Eating Disorder Center for Children and Young Adults is a highly specialized operation consisting of a ward, outpatient clinic, and day care. The outpatient clinic and day care cater to patients with severe eating disorders residing in the Gothenburg region.

In addition, our ward has both a regional and a national assignment; a so-called NHV assignment, aimed at difficult-to-treat eating disorders. Part of the ward cares for children and families and is co-located with the youth ward.

Continuous operational development and research are conducted within the organization.

The care work in the ward is conducted in teams. The team includes doctors, nurses, nursing assistants, treatment assistants, social workers, family therapists, and psychologists. We collaborate with dietitians, chefs, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and music therapists.

During the treatment period, which is approximately 12 weeks for youth and about 8 weeks for families and children, patients with severe eating disorders receive treatment according to a structured care program; in the youth ward according to mentalization-based treatment and in the family ward family-based treatment.

We are committed to continuous development work to provide good and safe care. As part of this, there is a broad enhancement of the competence level in the care work and in the staff group, including joint educational initiatives.

Our two wards collaborate through internal exchange, support, and cooperation. We have an exciting time ahead of us!

What Do We Offer?

The ward sees further education as an important cornerstone for knowledge development and evidence-based care. We offer both internal and external training in the field of eating disorders. We also invest in training regarding treatment within relevant methods.

Our goal is to create well-functioning care that best meets the needs and conditions of the patient and their relatives. In this work, care staff and other parts of the team play an active role.

We are looking for someone interested in working with specialized eating disorder care primarily focused on family treatment.

Job Responsibilities

Regular somatic and psychiatric tasks for nursing staff with a focus on conversation. The patient group often has a somatic and psychiatric comorbidity, both of more acute and long-term conditions. You will be able to use and develop your skills in both interaction and care. Occasionally, more acute medical conditions may arise.

You will work with children and families under 16 years old, where parents are seen as the most important resource for the child. A significant part of the work involves supporting the parent.

About You

We are looking for someone who wants to work with children and families and has an interest in both psychiatry and somatics. You have nursing education with a focus on psychiatry and/or somatics. Previous experience in child and adolescent psychiatry or work with eating disorders is an advantage. We place great importance on personal suitability.
